Rangers have moved quickly to replace Danny Röhl, naming Derek McInnes as their new manager on a three-year contract.
A Momentous Season with Hearts
McInnes, 54, oversaw Hearts’ charge for the title last term, with the club finishing second by a single point after a dramatic final-day defeat to Celtic. That narrow margin saw Rangers finish eight points behind third-placed Celtic, but McInnes earned widespread praise for pushing the Edinburgh side to the brink of glory.
Return to Ibrox
The appointment marks a full-circle moment for McInnes, who played for Rangers between 1995 and 2000. He previously turned down the chance to manage the club while at Aberdeen, opting instead to stay with the Dons.
Röhl’s Brief Tenure Ends
Röhl left Ibrox earlier this week to take charge at RB Salzburg, ending his short-lived spell in Scotland. His departure opened the door for McInnes, whose experience in Scottish football made him a natural fit.
Support Staff Named
- Alan Archibald
- Paul Sheerin
- Craig Clarkson
will join McInnes at Ibrox.
What This Means for Rangers
With McInnes now at the helm, Rangers will hope to build on last season’s progress. His track record of developing young talent and getting the best out of squads could prove crucial as they aim to challenge for the title again.
