Openai’s Head of Safety Systems Departs Amid Organizational Restructuring
Johannes Heidecke, OpenAI’s head of safety systems, is leaving the company as part of a broader reorganization that merges safety and research teams under new leadership structures.
Johannes Heidecke, the executive who led OpenAI’s safety systems division, has announced his departure from the company, according to internal communications seen by technology media. His exit coincides with a strategic restructuring aimed at integrating OpenAI’s safety and research divisions more closely.
The reorganization, confirmed through an internal memo, will see safety teams now reporting directly to Mia Glaese, who is expanding her role as vice president of research and safety. Saachi Jain, a former safety team lead, has been named interim head of safety systems.
