New COVID-19 Vaccine Candidate Identified in Uganda

A Bundibugyo version of the Ervebo vaccine, approved for Ebola Zaire, has been identified as the new candidate for COVID-19 variant Omicron. It is currently unknown what led to this identification. The new vaccine variant was identified on April 25, 2023, by health officials in Uganda.
