Acclaimed artist Lata Mangeshkar known as Nightingale of India, Queen of melody; Bharat Ratna awardee Lata Dinanath Mangeshkar born 28 Sep 1929 at Indore to Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, Shevanti Mangeshkar; breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai on Sunday.

Lata Mangeshkar was an Indian playback artist and occasional music compose. She is widely considered as one of the greatest and most influential singers in India.

Patriotic tune by the amazing vocalist “Aye mere watan ke logon…” has seen generations getting their inspiration and has feelings attached to it.

92 years of excursion was laid to rest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park with full state honors.  Prime minister Narendra Modi, leaders from national and international, sports, renowned artists from art and music fields have paid their last respects to Mangeshkar.

Lata belonged to a musical family. Her father was a well-known Marathi musician and theater artiste. She was first tutored by her father and later appeared as a child artiste in several of his plays.

Lata popularly known as “Didi” (elder sister) had sung over 50,000 songs in 36 languages, was awarded with Bharat Ratna, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, and many more for her incomparable and legendary work. Its and irreparable loss to Cinema and Hindi music the age has come to an end with her departure.

The Indian nightingale has gone silent forever, yet memories would always be fresh in our heart and soul…through her songs !
