No OTT censorship: Content to remain outside CBFC purview; govt prioritises self-regulation
The central government informed Lok Sabha that the content on Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms will not fall under the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) purview. The government said these platforms will continue to be regulated under the Information Technology Rules, 2021, which mandate a code of ethics and a three-tier grievance redressal mechanism.
