Voting begins in one of the most eagerly awaited and fiercely contested byelections of recent yearsThe speaker of the House of Lords will meet with the Metropolitan police today after he was incorrectly identified as the source of information which led to Peter Mandelson’s arrest, the Press Association reports. PA says:Lord Forsyth of Drumlean, who has the title lord speaker, was wrongly said in some media reports to have passed information to the police ahead of the former ambassador to Washington’s arrest on Monday on suspicion of misconduct in public office.Lord Mandelson, who has been accused of passing sensitive information on to paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein during his time as business secretary, has been bailed until May.
